Legacy teachers
change lives
Returning teachers at Arizona Legacy Traditional Schools earned salary increases for the current academic year, based on their previous year’s salary.
Average teacher salary differs from prior year due to changes in teaching staff and new teacher recruiting, resulting in differing levels of education/degrees and teaching experience upon which teacher salaries are based.
Understanding the Dynamics of Calculating Average Salary for All Teachers
Year-to-year changes in the level of teacher experience and education in the Legacy teacher population affect the average salary.
As an example, a teacher with 10 years of experience and a master’s degree may leave a school and be replaced the following year with a teacher who has four years of experience and a bachelor’s degree. This substantial difference in years of experience and education would lower the school’s average teacher salary.
When all teacher salaries are looked at in the aggregate and compared from year to year, the increase in the average salary for all teachers will differ from the percentage increase given to each individual teacher.
