Make sure you select \u201cLegacy Online Academy\u201d as your campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will my child be able to switch between online learning and in-person learning at a Legacy Traditional Schools (LTS) campus?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>No. Due to state regulations, there will no longer be an opportunity to switch between in-person and online learning during the school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legacy Online Academy is its own LTS campus. If you would like to attend Legacy Online Academy, you will need to withdraw from your current LTS campus. If you enroll in Legacy Online Academy and later decide to attend an in-person LTS campus, you will need to withdraw from Legacy Online Academy and transfer to the LTS campus of your choice, pending availability.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>If I enroll in Legacy Online Academy and later decide to transfer my child back to an in-person LTS campus, will my child have priority?<\/summary>\n<p>Your child will have the LTS sibling priority if you withdraw from Legacy Online Academy and apply at an-in person LTS campus. Your child will not go back to new student priority. However, their ability to enroll at a new campus will depend on what campus seating numbers look like at the time of enrollment.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>What is the deadline to enroll in Legacy Online Academy?<\/summary>\n<p>While there isn\u2019t a deadline for submitting the application for LOA, the way to secure your child\u2019s enrollment at either a Legacy Traditional Schools campus or Legacy Online Academy is through the enrollment process. We understand this is an important decision. Please let us know if you have questions we can answer to help you make the best decision for your family.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>How do I start the transfer process since my student is currently enrolled at LTS?<\/summary>\n<p>You can submit an application through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/legacytraditional.schoolmint.net\/welcomeback\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SchoolMint<\/a>\u00a0and simply select \u201cLegacy Online Academy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Do I need to be a resident of AZ to enroll my child in LOA?<\/summary>\n<p>Yes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Do I need to be a resident of AZ to enroll my child in LOA?<\/summary>\n<p>Yes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>When is LOA&#8217;s first day and will the schedule be the same as at the LTS campuses? Will fall, winter, and spring breaks match LTS breaks?<\/summary>\n<p>LOA will follow the modified year calendar. This schedule includes a two-week fall break, two-week winter break, and two-week spring break. Visit the campus calendar link, under \u201cParents\u201d in the menu for the current year\u2019s calendar.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>My student was expelled; can I enroll online?<\/summary>\n<p>Pursuant to A.R.S. 15-184(F), Legacy Online Academy will not admit or enroll a prospective student who has been expelled or is awaiting expulsion from another educational institution.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>I believe my child can skip to the next grade level; can I enroll them for the next grade?<\/summary>\n<p>Legacy takes its role as a part of the educational community seriously and respects the decisions made by other educational institutions and professionals. Therefore, a student who adequately completed a grade level at a previous school must enroll in the next sequential grade level available.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>My child is not progressing the way I want; can I retain them in their current grade level?<\/summary>\n<p>Parents may not \u201cself-retain\u201d or \u201cself-promote\u201d by selecting a lower or higher grade level during the enrollment process. Should this occur, the school administration would meet with the parent and discuss a plan of action, including, but not limited to, withdrawal of the student or a change in grade. Written proof of retention or accelerated promotion by the former school must be submitted in writing, in order for the grade change to be valid at Legacy.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-heading-5-font-size\" id=\"Attendance\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:500\">Attendance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>What are the attendance requirements? Will the hours of instruction be flexible since the platform is online?<\/summary>\n<p>Each online student will be required to log in to Schoology daily to track their attendance, except in the case of illness or an emergency (A.R.S. \u00a7 15-901). Students may log in to Schoology any time between the hours of 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. to complete their schoolwork each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the number of hours each student spends engaged in online learning each week should average out to at least the following number of hours per day, per grade:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kindergarten = 2 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1st\u20133rd grade = 4 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4th\u20136th grade = 5 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7th\u20138th grade = 6 hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These hours are required.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>When does the week reset?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>The school week will close on Sundays at 11:59 p.m. The new school week will open on Mondays.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>How will I report absences?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Parents can call the attendance line just like they would at the brick and mortar campuses.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-heading-5-font-size\" id=\"Classroom-and-Curriculum\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:500\">Classroom and Curriculum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>What teaching platform will be used?<\/summary>\n<p>LOA uses Schoology as its learning platform. Schoology continues to enhance the platform, so you may see new features\/functionality roll out during the year.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>How is LOA different from what LTS students are currently doing online?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Some differences include having teachers who are dedicated to supporting online students; teachers offering live sessions each school day in core subject areas; and students having the opportunity to participate in online special and elective courses.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will there be dedicated online teachers? Or will teachers be teaching in-person and online classes?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Certified teachers are dedicated to teaching LOA courses only. Additionally, students can participate in live sessions offered daily using Google Meets. Sessions will be optional and will be recorded and posted. The schedule for live sessions will be communicated by the teacher.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will the teachers be local or from our current Legacy campus?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Legacy Online Academy is a new school that has its own dedicated teachers; however, some of the LOA teachers previously taught at LTS campuses.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will students have separate teachers for each class in seventh and eighth grade, or will they have the same teachers?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Students will have at least two different teachers in seventh and eighth grade, and possibly more, depending on subjects studied.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>How many students will be in each online class?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>We are allowing up to 36 students in each class.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>How many courses will be offered for each grade level?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Kindergarten through grade 5 will include math, phonics, spelling, reading, writing\/grammar, social studies, science, and specials (art, music, PE, computers\/typing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grade 6 will include English, literature, math, science, social studies, and specials (art, music, PE, computers\/typing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grades 7 and 8 will include English, literature, math, science, social studies, and electives (music, art, health, computers, Spanish).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>What curriculum do you use for each subject?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>English Language Arts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kindergarten through grade 5 will use Spalding Phonograms and Spelling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kindergarten through grade 6 will also use HMH\u2019s Journeys curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grades 7 and 8 will use McGraw Hill\u2019s StudySync curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Mathematics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All grades will use enVision Math<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Science:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All grades will use HMH\u2019s Science Dimensions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Social Studies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kindergarten through grade 2 and grades 4 and 5 will use HMH\u2019s Into Social Studies curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grade 3 will use Splash curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grades 6 through 8 will use Savvas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math<\/strong><br>Legacy Online Academy\u2019s math curriculum utilizes problem-based learning to help deepen students\u2019 abilities to reason. In an all-online classroom, differentiated instruction, tiered activities, learning centers, and flexible grouping options help to personalize and adapt instruction to meet the needs of all students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>English Language Arts<\/strong><br>From phonemic awareness all the way up to comprehension strategies and skills, students in grades K\u20135 explore various types of storytelling and writing within multiple genres. Students in grades 6\u20138 build a solid literacy foundation that is necessary for success in college and careers. Exposure to rich literature selections with increasing text complexity across genres builds students\u2019 literacy and cultural knowledge so they become comfortable reading different text structures and understand the elements that appear in the selections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong><br>Students will construct an understanding of scientific concepts through investigation and analysis, the use of virtual labs, student readings, and interactive technology. Students will exercise logical thinking and decision-making skills appropriate to their grade level. In addition, the science curriculum develops scientific inquiry through student readings, interactive notebooking, student projects, and the use of mathematics to quantify, synthesize, and communicate results of investigations, hypotheses, and experiments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong><br>From early exploration through modern times, students will expand their study of world history, U.S. history, Arizona history and geography, and the economy, with an embedded emphasis on becoming a responsible citizen.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>How is enVision Math different from Saxon?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>enVision Math provides a more integrated, interactive experience for online students. enVision covers all of the Arizona math standards and incorporates mathematical practices. enVision will take students through math concept units and will give students multiple opportunities to interact with the concepts. There will also be some real world application problems to allow students to see how these math concepts can be used in their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>enVision also has a different approach to the order of teaching math. Unlike Saxon, common concepts are taught together. For example, if fractions is one of their standards, the students will work on fractions for several lessons in a row. Saxon may teach fractions one day, then geometry the next day and then multiplication the next. With enVision, students will see the same concepts, but they will add difficulty. For example, if they are studying fractions, they may learn about adding fractions, then subtracting fractions, and then word problems with fractions.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will students transferring from a current LTS campus still be one year ahead in their math curriculum, like they are with Saxon math?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes. Students transferring from an LTS school will continue math at a level above their current grade level.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will my child have elective courses?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes, we will offer specials for kindergarten through grade 6 and electives for grades 7 and 8. Students in kindergarten through grade 6 will take art, computers, music, and physical education (PE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in grades 7 and 8 will take two elective courses. Elective options will include subjects such as Art I and II, Computers I and II, Health, Music I and II, and Spanish I and II.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>How often will my student in kindergarten through grade 6 have specials?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Art, computers, and music will be offered for 30 minutes each per week. Physical education will be offered 60 minutes per week.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>What will the music class consist of?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Music courses will use Quaver music curriculum, which includes high-quality graphics, recordings, and videos. We will be happy to share more information as it becomes available.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will specials be graded?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will students still have to complete book reports and poems?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>There will still be book reports, but poems may not be included.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Does my student\u2019s camera have to be on?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes. This allows for teachers to connect with students and build relationships. The teacher will also be able to monitor comprehension and adjust as needed. Ensuring that the students\u2019 cameras are on allows us to maintain safety measures for everyone.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will my child be required to do online homework?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>For each subject, students will have a list of activities to complete during the week. Activities may include reading, watching videos, taking quizzes, writing essays, completing assignments, etc. Homework usually describes work completed outside of the physical classroom. However, in the online environment, all of the work is completed remotely, so there isn\u2019t the traditional differentiation between classwork and homework.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>Will tutoring be provided for Title I students?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes, teachers will be offering tutoring and support for students who need additional support with their classes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong><strong>My student is gifted; do you offer accelerated or gifted classes?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes, LOA offers gifted\/RISE programming and an accelerated curriculum.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-heading-5-font-size\" id=\"ESS-and-SPED-Services\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:500\">ESS and SPED Services<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>My child has a 504 education plan; can they enroll in LOA?<\/summary>\n<p>Yes. Legacy Online Academy is a public school and enrolls all eligible students, pending enrollment capacity. If an enrolled student is eligible under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, a Section 504 Accommodation Plan will be implemented, to ensure equal access and equal opportunity in the school\u2019s programs and services.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>How will my child\u2019s IEP minutes be met?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Special education teachers and related service providers will provide live virtual sessions of specialized instruction to meet the services agreed upon in the IEP.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--110)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-heading-5-font-size\" id=\"Technology\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:500\">Technology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>What are the computer and internet requirements for online learning?<\/summary>\n<p>The online learning platform that we use is Schoology. LOA students will complete state testing at a local LTS campus that is within 25 miles of their residence. If there is not a campus within 25 miles of a student\u2019s residence, an alternative testing location may be identified. NWEA MAP assessments are district assessments to gauge how students are performing in reading and math skills. The testing will be done at home, and the students should answer the questions without adult support. The data will be used by teachers to see what students already know and where students need additional instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Technology requirements for NWEA Map is as follows;<br>Windows 10 (or higher), Mac OS 10.14, Chrome OS 87 (minimum). If using iPad for 2+ testing, they need iOS 13 or higher, and for K-2 they have to use the secure browser.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Will standardized testing be conducted in person?<\/summary>\n<p>Yes, Arizona Department of Education requires that all standardized state testing be conducted in person. If there is not a campus within 25 miles of a student\u2019s residence, an alternative testing location may be identified.
