While specific details and tactics contained in the Emergency Operations Plan cannot be shared publicly, Legacy school permanent buildings have implemented a variety of measures to ensure the safety of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These measures include:
Surveillance cameras installed at the entrance gate to enable offsite monitoring by district administrators and office staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emergency communications systems to effectively notify the intended audience and appropriate response agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A single point of entry and visitor management system, Raptor, implemented at all campuses. Visitors must first check-in with the Raptor system and receptionist before being allowed into the rest of the school building. Any parent, guest, contractor or volunteer must check-in with the front office and show photo identification and be granted approval before they enter into the rest of the building.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n It has been a long-standing practice, and a State requirement, that safety and security drills are an essential part of a school\u2019s operational plan. Teachers, faculty and staff review protocols for each type of potential emergency prior to the school year, and students are trained in the practice of these drills. For additional insight, please also see the\u00a0Parent Student Handbook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n A secured 6-foot fence has been installed around the perimeter of our campus along with cameras located at the front entrance and rear gate. Visitors will need to check in at the front office and provide a valid state I.D. Legacy will be utilizing the Raptor System to scan I.D.s which are then validated against criminal databases. A security guard will be onsite and all gates will be locked during the school day. In doing so, the District Safety and Security Lead closely follows the recommendations and guidelines provided to schools through the Texas State School Safety Center (txssc.txstate.edu\/).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The District works closely with Law Enforcement and First Responders to make sure that we have a current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), that supports our campus safety with clear and specific roles and responsibilities between campus and first responders.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Yes, teachers and staff will be issued radios to remain in contact throughout the school day.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Yes, the Cibolo Police department works in collaboration with our school to be regularaly visible on campus.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Legacy Traditional School \u2013 Cibolo closely monitors inclement weather and follows the guidance of first responders, and nearby school districts when considering weather-related school closures. Legacy schools may utilize online learning platform Schoology to deliver an effective education, online, in the event of an outage.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Every student enrolling in LTS for the first time must present documentation of immunizations as required by the Texas Department of State Health Services. No later than 30 days after enrolling in LTS, the parent and school in which the student was previously enrolled shall furnish records that verify the identity of the student.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n The parent\/guardian of each student enrolled in LTS must complete a form provided by the school that discloses (1) whether the child has a food allergy or a severe food allergy that should be disclosed to the school to enable it to take any necessary precautions regarding the child\u2019s safety, and (2) specifies the food(s) to which the child is allergic and the nature of the allergic reaction. For purposes of this requirement, the term \u201csevere food allergy\u201d means a dangerous or life-threatening reaction of the human body to a food-borne allergen introduced by inhalation, ingestion, or skin contact that requires immediate medical attention. LTS may also require information from a child\u2019s physician if the child has food allergies.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Parents and students in need of assistance with physical and mental health concerns may contact the following campus and community resources:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u25cf The school health office Legacy is not a nut-free school. Please contact the health aide at your child\u2019s school to discuss any medical concerns.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Asthma and anaphylaxis are life-threatening conditions, and students with those conditions are entitled to possess and self-administer prescription medication while on LTS property or at school-related events. Student possession and self-administration of asthma or anaphylaxis medication at school requires the student to demonstrate his or her ability to self-administer the medication to the student\u2019s physician or other licensed health care provider and the school nurse, if available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Requirements also include written authorization from the student\u2019s parent and physician or other licensed health care provider on file in the school office indicating the student is capable of independently administering his or her own asthma or emergency anaphylaxis medication. Medication in a student\u2019s possession must be in an original container with a prescription label. Please note that most pharmacies will place a label on the inhaler device upon request.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n Medication should be administered at home whenever possible. If necessary, medication can be administered at school by the school Health Assistant or or another staff member, as delegated by the school principal, during school hours.
